IME OKON RECEIVES NASS CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE, LAUDS SCREENING PANEL ...Drums Support For Gov. Emmanuel Presidential Bid, Succession Plan

 



The frontline aspirant for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency race in 2023, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ime Bassey Okon, has hailed the Barr. Edwards Ayo-Odugbesan 5-man screening panel for the forthcoming National Assembly election, for transparency and peaceful conduct of the exercise.


Recall on Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom at the party's secretariat in Uyo, screened their aspirants seeking election to the Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly.


Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after receiving his provisional clearance certificate, Sunday evening, the Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, hinted, "the exercise was an extant requirement for all the aspirants on the platform of the PDP and I can affirm it was more or less a family affair."


Obong Ime Okon, eulogized the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, who is also the leader of the party, for providing a conducive and peaceful atmosphere for the success of the screening exercise as well as the just concluded adhoc delegate elections in the entire 329 Wards of Akwa Ibom.


Answering a reporter's question, the frontline aspirant assured his party and the people of Itu/Ibiono Ibom of effective representation from June 2023.


“I can assure you that our great party, the PDP and Itu/Ibiono Ibom delegates will never regret chosing me to be the candidate to represent them as commitment, transparency and good representation will be my watchword," Barr. Okon maintained.


The former two-term member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, used the occasion to appeal to the National Executive Council (NEC) National Working Committee (NWC) , critical stakeholders and delegates of the party to nominate Governor Udom Emmanuel and endorse him to fly the party’s flag in the presidential election.


Rt. Hon. Okon, who expressed happiness how Gov Emmanuel has transformed Akwa Ibom beyond human comprehension, said, the Country needs a focused, energetic, pragmatic and courageous leader like the State Chief Executive, to take Nigeria out of the myriads of challenges bedeviling it.


On the Governor's Completion Agenda, the Itu/Ibiono Ibom National Assembly hopeful stated unequivocally that he was proud to identify with Mr. Emmanuel's completion agenda and succession plan as expressed in Pastor Umo Eno even as he advised politicians on issue based campaigns devoid of blackmail, character assassination and name-calling in the build up to the 2023 general elections.
