LG Congress: AKHA Speaker Expresses Satisfaction, Hails PDP




Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the Local Government Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which elected one National Delegate and a nomination of one Person Living with Disability (PLWD) across the 31 local government areas of the state.


At the event, which took place at Uruan Local Government Secretariat, Idu Uruan, on Tuesday in pursuant to Section 25 (1)(R) of the PDP Constitution, the Speaker commended stakeholders of the party and delegates to the Local Government Congress for their steadfastness, loyalty and show of love.


According to Rt. Hon. Bassey, “PDP is Akwa Ibom and Akwa Ibom is PDP. The turnout today is a testament to that fact and I tell you, we are on the right track. The National Delegate that has been elected today is the unanimous decision of Uruan people. It shows unity amongst the people. It shows cooperation amongst the people and even distribution of political positions within the four Clans of Uruan."


The Local Government Congress elected Engr. Joseph B. Effiong with 185 and also nominated Blessing Umoh Effiong as PLWD.
