Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Usoro Akpanusoh, a two-term former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his proven ability to leverage his political influence to benefit the people of Esit Eket Local Government Area.

Speaking on Wednesday, June 25, in Ikpa, Esit Eket, Akpanusoh addressed a gathering of APC stakeholders from all ten political wards in Esit Eket, who officially endorsed the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio for the 2027 elections.

The event also reaffirmed the political leadership of Chief Bassey Dan Abia in the local government.

Akpanusoh, who represented Esit Eket state constituency in the 6th and 7th Assemblies, highlighted how Senator Akpabio has consistently used his political clout to uplift many sons and daughters of Esit Eket in various governance roles, policy-making, and resource allocation, thereby enhancing the socio-economic conditions of the area.

He noted that during Akpabio's tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015, Chief Bassey Dan Abia held several significant positions, including Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Transport, Acting Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and later, Managing Director/CEO of the agency.

Additionally, Akpanusoh pointed out that the appointment of Hon. Eseme Eyibo, the current spokesperson for the Senate President and another distinguished son of Esit Eket, was also facilitated by Senator Akpabio.

"Thanks to Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio's support in appointing our sons, we can now travel from Ukwo to Ntak Inyang, from Ntak Inyang to Etebi, and from there to Oron," he remarked.

The event attracted thousands of residents, prominent political figures, traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth and women groups, all united in their support for Governor Eno's administration.

At the gathering which marked the first assembly of APC stakeholders in Esit Eket since Governor Eno's transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, attendees expressed their appreciation for the achievements of President Tinubu, Governor Eno, and Senator Akpabio, acknowledging their contributions to the development and progress of Akwa Ibom State and the nation as a whole.

Leading debate on the motion, Hon. Udobia argued that while educational institutions are established to promote learning, discipline, moral values and responsible citizenship, the culture of sign-out celebrations by graduating students has increasingly degenerated into activities that undermine these ideals. According to him, what was once intended as a celebration of academic accomplishment has, in recent years, become synonymous with indecent dressin...
