A member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, on Wednesday marked his birthday with a series of empowerment initiatives, including the donation of a brand-new Toyota car to a loyal supporter and cash support to small business owners in Uyo.

The lawmaker, who represents Uyo State Constituency and is popularly known as “CAPO,” presented the vehicle to Comrade Daniel Dominic Okon, in recognition of his years of dedication and grassroots mobilization for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.

Okon, an indigene of Eniong Offot Village in Offot Clan, has reportedly supported the lawmaker and the party for over eight years, contributing to political campaigns and community engagement across Uyo Local Government Area.

In addition to the car gift, two constituents — Mr. Sabbath Inyang Udoh and Mr. Anthony Charles Akpan — received ₦250,000 each as business support grants aimed at boosting their livelihoods.

Speaking during the presentation, Mrs. Idongesit Uwemedimo, wife of the lawmaker, who represented him at the event, described the beneficiary of the car gift as a steadfast and committed supporter whose contributions to the party and her husband’s political journey have been significant.

She noted that Okon, a student of Guidance and Counselling at the University of Uyo, has also played an active role in mobilizing student support for the APC and the state government, adding that his consistency and loyalty merited recognition.

Mrs. Uwemedimo further disclosed that the lawmaker has a history of supporting constituents through similar interventions, noting that many past beneficiaries have successfully converted such opportunities into sustainable sources of income.

She reaffirmed her husband’s commitment to rewarding loyalty and delivering people-oriented representation, stressing that the mandate given to him by the people of Uyo would continue to translate into tangible development.

In his remarks, Hon. Asuquo expressed appreciation to constituents for their continued support and turnout at the celebration. He used the occasion to highlight the achievements of the APC-led administration and called for sustained backing of key political leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.

The lawmaker urged unity among constituents, emphasizing that continued cooperation and political support would attract more developmental projects to the area.

Leaders from various clans in Uyo Local Government Area, who spoke at the event, commended Asuquo’s performance in legislation, representation, and oversight, describing him as a pacesetter in constituency service.

They also declared support for the re-election ambitions of President Tinubu, Governor Eno, and Hon. Asuquo, while endorsing the continued leadership of Senate President Akpabio.

The celebration concluded with goodwill messages, prayers, and festivities, as supporters and associates joined the lawmaker in marking the occasion.
