GOVERNOR UMO ENO, AKHA SPEAKER SENATOR EKONG SAMPSON, OTHERS COMMEND HON. BASSEY PIUS BASSEY ON EMPOWERMENT OF CONSTITUENTS, IMPACTFUL REPRESENTATION







Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, says he is Impressed and satisfied by the stellar performance and quality representation of the Chairman , House Committee On Environment and Member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, Hon. Bassey Pius Bassey.


The Governor made the Commendation during the Constituency Briefing and empowerment Program, organised by the Okobo lawmaker On tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Government Model School, Okobo. 


Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, Governor Umo Eno said he was very delighted to see a lawmaker complements his Arise Agenda by doling out Millions Of Naira to boost the economic fortunes and education Of his Constituents through business and Students Grants, distribution Of quality Vehicles to individuals, organisations, Nigeria Police Force and donation Of outboard engines and other empowerment Initiatives for Sustainable self-reliance.












The Governor also gave Hon. Bassey a pat at the back for demonstrating exemplary leadership through people-oriented representation, empowerment pakages aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening grassroots development. 


The Governor further commended the Okobo lawmaker for giving back to his constituents and inspiring hope through responsive representation. He emphasized that public office holders must use their positions to touch lives, noting that governance should serve as a vehicle in addressing the needs and welfare of the people and justifying the trust and confidence reposed in their representation.


The State Chief Executive described the empowerment initiative as a clear reflection of the lawmaker’s deep understanding of his constituents’ needs, aligning with his ARISE Agenda, urging others to emulate such a service-driven approach adopted by the Okobo lawmaker. He also charged beneficiaries to make productive use of the items and support received to enhance their economic well-being and contribute meaningfully to societal growth, while further reinforcing his support for the initiative with a significant financial contribution.


On his part, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elder Udeme Otong described Hon. Bassey Pius Bassey as a lawmaker known for effective representation, sound and robust legislative engagements and unwavering Commitment towards improving the Welfare of his Constituents. 


The Speaker, accompanied by the deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem, Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. Chief Effiong Johnson and other Members Of the Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, congratulated the Okobo lawmaker for organising a colourful and impactful Constituency Briefing and empowerment Program for his Constituents and thanked Stakeholders Of Okobo for passing a vote Of confidence On Họn. Pius Bassey through their goodwill Messages, announcing that Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey is among the Performing House of Assembly Members that will return for a Second term to the House Of Assembly in 2027.


In his remarks, the Chairman, Senate Committee On Solid Minerals Development and Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson, PhD, accompanied by Rt. Hon. Jonathan Gaza Kefi, Chairman,House Committee on Solid Minerals in the House of Representatives, saluted the ingenuity Of Governor Umo Eno's inclusive, detribalised and result-oriented leadership, stressing that the seamless synergy between the executive and legislative arms, remains the true pathway to sustainable development in Akwa Ibom State.


Senator Sampson hinted that such robust collaboration and partnership was what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration has promoted between the National Assembly and the Presidency. He congratulated Okobo lawmaker for attracting positive dividends Of democracy to his People and Supported his empowerment Initiatives with an outboard engine worth Millions Of Naira.


The Chairman Of the Occasion and former Member of the National Assembly, representing Oron federal Constituency, Họn Robinson Uwak, described Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey as a politician with human face and saluted his vision Of evolving Programs and Projects aimed at improving the socio-economic livelihoods of his Constituents.


Speaking On his Performance in the Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, Hon . Uwak described Họn Bassey as a legislator who has given Okobo State Constituency an effective and result-oriented representation and endorsed him for a Second term in Office.

Earlier in his remarks, Hon. Pius Bassey, thanked the People Of Okobo for entrusting him with their mandate, assuring that he will continue to work assiduosly towards justifying the Mandate through effective representation, attracting quality constituency projects to his state constituency and empowerment Of his People.


Hon. Bassey who said his empowerment initiatives align with Governor Umo Eno's Arise Agenda of boosting SMEs and impact in economic initiatives, listed his empowerment items to include cars, outboard engines, motorcycles, sewing machines, welding machines, generators, vulcanizing machines, hair dryers, tiling machines, drilliing and plumbing machines, business and education grants as well as other vocational kits for youth and women.


The lawmaker expressed gratitude to the Governor for his continued support and for execution of quality infrastructural projects in Okobo such as ongoing construction of dualised Okobo -Nsit Atai road, construction of Model School ongoing Construction of Okobo - Uya Oron dualised road, ongoing construction of Model Health Centre, amongst others.


Reaffirming his commitment to effective representation, the Okobo lawmaker who described his scorecard as the spokesperson, used the occasion to present his legislative milestones, highlighting constituency projects, Students grant, sponsorship of several bills and motions of public importance aimed at advancing the welfare of his Constituents.
