The House of Representatives candidate for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ime Okon, has promised not to disappoint the people of the two Local government areas when voted to represent them at the National Assembly next year.

The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) candidate stated this recently, while responding to questions from newsmen in Uyo, the State capital.

"By the special grace of God and through the support and votes of our people in Itu and Ibiono Ibom, I believe I will take the two Local Government Areas to greater heights," Obong Okon stated.

The two time member who represented Ibiono Ibom in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly maintained he was sure of offering effective representation because of his wealth of experience in the legislative setting and capacity to deliver on every assignment given to him.

The Barrister and Solicitor of the supreme court of Nigeria maintained his vast contacts, cordial relationship, exposure and affableness will be of immense help for him to address the long-time deprivations  which he said the people of Itu and Ibiono Ibom have suffered due to lack of federal government presence in the constituency.

Okon, who holds the chieftaincy title of Utenghe Ibiono Ibom said Itu and Ibiono Ibom people deserved a representation that would effectively connect the constituency to the national resource distribution.

Observing that the State government has done its best, the PDP House of Reps candidate promised to lobby and attract federal government-funded projects to rural communities in the two local government areas.

Rt Hon Ime Okon said he would continue with his direct personal interventions in the areas of education support, healthccare support, empowerment of elders, youth and women as he has been doing since 2011.

His words: “The people of Itu/Ibiono Ibom require full and proper representation at the federal legislature for rapid growth in education, health, infrastructure, road construction, hygienic water and many more. By the grace of God, I promise to sponsor bills that will be for the growth and development of the youth, women and the elderly,” he said.

Obong Ime Okon specifically appealed to his constituents to vote for him and candidates of his party, the PDP for the prompt delivery of the dividends of democracy.
