Yuletide: Aniekan Bassey Fetes Officers of PDP Uyo Senatorial District




In line with his humanitarian disposition, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, on Saturday, hosted Chapter and Ward Officers of the PDP in Uyo Senatorial District to an End of the year Get-Together.


Speaking at the event, which took place at the Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Campaign Council Secretariat, Osongoma Road, Uyo, the Speaker said his senatorial bid was moved by his zeal to drive infrastructural and human capital development in the state.

While declaring that he will not waste the mandate of the people of the Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bassey said he will not only be accessible to his constituents, but will raise the bar of representation in the Senatorial District.


“Your votes won't be wasted. Throughout the Primaries, you stood for the truth, you supported me. I stand here to assure you that your labour will not be fruitless. I will attract good roads, jobs, empowerment and contracts to our people. You will not regret supporting me,” he maintained.


The Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District hopeful thanked the PDP officers for working to keep the umbrella party alive at the grassroots and appealed for more support during next year's election.


Also speaking at the event, the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Lawrence Udosen, commended the Speaker for recognizing efforts of foot soldiers of the party, saying the “PDP is proud to have the Honourable Speaker as its Senatorial Candidate.”


Similarly, the State Woman Leader of the PDP, Mrs. Mmeme Akpabio, and the Chairman of PDP in Uyo Senatorial District, Hon. Ibanga Brownson, while acknowledging the Speaker's gesture, assured him of victory in the nine local government areas of the Uyo Senatorial District.


They hinted that the PDP was fully ready with solid structures to deliver all its candidates, including Pastor Umo Eno.


Others who spoke, including the Member representing Etinan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Aniefiok Dennis Akpan and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Monday Eyo, urged the PDP officers to intensify campaigns and mobilization across various political Units in the state, expressing optimism that the Speaker's victory will change their fortunes.


Some of the party officers who spoke at the event, vowed to work tirelessly for the success of the PDP in 2023.


Present at the event were the Member representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency, Hon. Ifiok Udo; Chairman of Uyo Senatorial District Women Forum, Mrs. Ekaette Ebong Okon; Director General of the Aniekan Bassey Campaign Council, Obong Godwin Awah, as well as Chapter and Ward Officers of the party across the nine local government areas of the Senatorial District.


The event featured donation of food items and cash to the party officers.
