IBIAIKOT DAY 2025 : REP. MARK ESSET SUES FOR PEACE, LOVE, UNITY... As "Award of Honour" Was Bestowed On Rep. Mark Esset PhD, Ors



Member representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency, Hon. Mark Esset,PhD, has sued for peace, while advising the people of Ibiaikot extraction to eschew hatred and divisive tendencies amongst them.


Esset made the call yesterday (Sunday) at the Annual Ibiakot Day Celebration, marked on December 28 of every year and organized by Ibiaikot Development Union at the Asan Ibiaikot, Idiaba Village.


The federal lawmaker who is a proud son of Ibiaikot, expressed delight to see the convergence of all the sons and daughters of Ibiaikot extraction from all walks of life, noting that, it portrays a formidable front amongst the entire Ibiaikot Group of Villages.


He charged the people of Ibiaikot, "Let's come together in unity to uphold the heritage and territorial integrity of Ibiaikot people as the warriors of Nsit Atai".







Rep. Mark Esset, while preaching for forgiveness amongst the people of Ibiakot Group of Villages, harped on the dire need for a peaceful coexistence amongst the villages that make up the group.


Mark Esset, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr Dorcas Esset, expressed delight that, the gathering depicted splendour, love, glamour and unity of purpose.


"I can boldly say that this show of love, unity and peaceful coexistence by al of us the Ibiaikot people, is very commendable. I am very sure that the forebearers of Ibiaikot are feeling fulfilled that those they bequeathed the legacies to are living up to expectations", Esset noted.


Earlier in his welcome address, the President General of Ibiaikot Development Union, Prof. Trenchard Ibia thanked the Ibiaikot sons and daughters for honouring the invitation to grace the epoch making event.


Prof. Ibia called on the entire indigenes of Ibiaikot Group of Villages to be worthy ambassadors, hence the need for them to live a life worthy of emulation.


Giving a goodwill message, the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Peter Okon Effiong  commended the organizers of the Annual Ibiaikot Day for the consistency in ensuring the day is celebrated annually.


The Nsit Atai Monarch advised the natives to imbibe the spirit of unity, love which is a sure way of fostering a lasting developmental strides in the area.


On his part, member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency, Hon. Prince-aniefiok Attah, applauded the people of Ibiaikot for the show of unity, while urging that the same unity should be sustained across other groups of villages in Nsit Atai Local Government Area.


In the same vein, the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai L.G.A., Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Emem Anthony Nyong, sued for togetherness and peaceful coexistence that is filled with love.


Highlights of the epoch making event were the bestowing of "Awards of Honour" to distinguished sons of Ibiaikot group of villages, including Rep Mark Esset PhD; match Past by natives of all the villages that constitute Ibiaikot and diverse cultural displays to thrill the guests.
