OKOBO VICE CHAIRMAN LAUDS GOVERNOR UMO ENO FOR PROMOTING WOMEN INCLUSION IN GOVERNANCE.....EMPOWERS 100 WOMEN WITH BUSINESS GRANTS TO COMPLEMENT ARISE AGENDA

 





The Vice Chairman Of Okobo Local Government Area, Họn (Mrs) Veronica Clement has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, for his concerted efforts in promoting women participation and inclusion in governance. 


The Vice Chairman who gave the Commendation On Sunday, December 21, 2025 , during hαΊΉr thanksgiving and empowerment Programme at St. Paul Catholic Church, Odobo in Okobo Local Government Area, noted 

that Governor Umo Eno has implemented policies and programs that prioritize women's empowerment, including the election of 26 women as Vice Chairmen across the 31 Local Government Areas Of the State; election Of numerous Councillors, Supervisors,Ward Personal Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor, recent appointment Of a female Head Of Civil Service and other Women elected and appointed into key positions in government.





Reflecting On how she was nominated by Stakeholders Of Okobo, particularly the immediate past Deputy Speaker Of Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly and current Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor On Infrastructure Maintenance, Rt. Họn. Princess Felicia Bassey and Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey, Member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, to be a running mate to the then Okobo Chairmanship Candidate, adding that it was that unanimous decision that produced her as the Vice Chairman Of Okobo Local Governor Area .


Leading her immediate family to God in thanksgiving, the Okobo Vice Chairman appreciated God for elevating hαΊΉr to the Position Of Vice Chairman in hαΊΉr Local Government Area, describing hαΊΉrself as a Woman loved by God.

While reiterating her Commitment to join forces with Stakeholders Of Okobo in Mobilising massive Support for the reelection Of Governor Umo Eno in 2027, She promised to usαΊΉ hαΊΉr Position to impact the lives Of those in critical nαΊΉeds, especially the Widows and the down-trodden.


She used the occasion Of her thanksgiving to empower about 100 Women drawn from 11 Wards Of Okobo with ₦50,000 Business Grants, Widows with bags Of rice, cash, wrappers and Supported 50 Students and Church Members with ₦30,000 each.


In their separate remarks, the Chairman, House Committee On Environment and Member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey, Immediate past Deputy Speaker Of Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, Rt. Họn. Princess Felicia Bassey, former Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Peter Linus Umoh, Coordinator, Vice Chairmen Forum, Akwa Ibom State, Elder Họn. Eddy Etangnkanga, Dean, College Of Wards Personal Aides to the Governor in Okobo, Họn. Helena Andem Etim, Secretary Of Okobo Local Government Council, Pastor Etim Ibok, Dean Of Supervisors in Okobo Local Government Council, Mr. Eteka Ukpong were unanimous in lauding the initiatives Of Họn. Lady Veronica Etim in appreciating God's benevolebce and magnanimity upon hẹr life.

Earlier in his Homily, the priest Of St. Paul Catholic Church, Odobo Okobo, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Udoh emphasised the necessity Of thanksgiving and enjoined those serving in various Political offices to serve with humility, fear Of God touch the lives Of those around them, especially in this festive Season.

Responding Onbehalf Of the beneficiaries Of the business grants, Mrs Benedicta αΊΈmene, Imaobong Asukwo Oboho and Elizabeth Ononokpono thanked the Vice Chairman for Supporting their businesses and promised to make good usαΊΉ Of the funds.
