The long-standing electricity blackout in some parts of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area has been rectified, as the Chairman of the Local Government, Rt. Hon. Asuakak Umoh swung into action immediately after he assumed office to reconnect 15 villages to the national grid.
He listed the Communities to include; Udioho Ntan, Usuk Ntan Ekere, Ikot Idem, Obot Ukana, Ikot Obio Edet, Ikot Andia, Ndorobot, Anan, Ikot Mkpo Okuobom, Use Ikot Odiong, Atan Aya, Nkwa Ibiono, Ikot Ekong,, Ikot Ekwong among others
Switching on the light at Ntan Ekere today, January 24, 2025, Hon. Umoh noted that the project was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to improve the lives of his constituents.
He added that “the electrification project is expected to boost economic activities, enhance security, and improve the overall well-being of the people to complement the State
Government’s vision in providing basic amenities and infrastructure to rural communities”.
The Chairman while calling on the youths of the Communities to take up the responsibility and protect the electricity items,warned against vandalism to ensure sustainable development in the areas.
Flanked by his wife, Mrs. Etiemana Asuakak the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mercy Ita Ubon, the leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon Idorenyin Umoren and other key Stakeholders. The Chairman assured that his administration remains committed to effective governance for a better Ibiono Ibom.
He extended his gratitude to all the partners who assisted in bringing the project to fruition
In their separate goodwill messages, the village head of Usuk Ntan Ekere, Eteidung Mfon Etok, the Village head of Ikot Mkpo, Eteidung Effiong Nkobo, the Chairman of the electrification Committee, Dsp Uwem Ekanem Rtd, the Ibiono Ibom PDP Chapter Chairman, Hon. Unyime Leo expressed their gratitude to the Chairman for his timely efforts in transforming their communities.
The people further praised Hon. Umoh for his achievements within his 100 days in office and commended him for his significant step towards achieving sustainable development and improving the standard of living in the areas even as they pledged their support for Asuakak’s led administration for more development.
