Empowerment Takes Centre Stage as Uruan Lawmaker Meets Constituents

Residents of Uruan State Constituency are set to benefit from a major empowerment drive as the Member representing the constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Itorobong Etim, prepares to host a Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Programme.

The event will hold on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Holy Trinity College, Mbiakong, starting at 12 noon, and will be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah.

A key highlight of the programme is the empowerment initiative, which will see the distribution of livelihood-support items and grants to selected beneficiaries. The intervention is aimed at boosting economic activities, encouraging self-reliance, and improving living standards across communities in the constituency.

Beyond empowerment, the gathering will also serve as an interface between the lawmaker and her constituents, during which Hon. Etim will present a scorecard of her representation. Expected areas of focus include her legislative contributions, constituency projects, and development-oriented efforts facilitated within Uruan.
The programme is expected to attract political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, youth and women groups, students, community leaders, and other stakeholders, reflecting its broad-based appeal and grassroots significance.

Observers say the event reinforces the lawmaker’s emphasis on participatory governance and direct engagement with constituents, while aligning legislative representation with tangible socio-economic benefits for the people of Uruan State Constituency.
