STUDENTS ' SUPPORT GROUP COLLABORATE STAKEHOLDERS' POSITION TO END SINGLE TENURE FOR SENATOR, PROMOTE EXPERIENCE AND RANKING IN AKWA IBOM SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT

A formidable Students' Support Group in Akwa Ibom State, under the aegis of Akwa Ibom South Students For Ekong Sampson ( AISSES), has thrown its weight behind the collective position of Stakeholders of Akwa Ibom South ( Eket) Senatorial District to reject notion for single tenure and replacement of an elected Senator in the Senatorial District during the 2027 National Assembly election but resolve to support experience, capacity and encourage ranking in Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.


It would be recalled that on December 30, 2025, during Eket Senatorial District Stakeholders' Meeting at Villa Marina, Eket, Chaired by the Chairman of Eket Senatorial District Stakeholders' Forum, Rt. Hon. Chief Nduese Essien, after a detailed and Comprehensive Briefing by Senator Ekong Sampson and upon satisfaction of performance and quality representation in less than 3 years in Office, a motion was duly moved by the immediate past Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem and was duly seconded by a former Member representing Eket Federal Constituency in the House Of Representatives, Abuja, Rt. Họn.Dr. Owoedighe Ekpotai for the endorsement and adoption of Senator Ekong Sampson for a Second term in Office as Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District and to end notion for single tenure and replacement option. This was unanimously ratified through a voice Vote by all the Stakeholders drawn from the 12 local government areas of Akwa Ibom South ( Eket) Senatorial District who were at the meeting.


Speaking after the official imagination of Akwa Ibom South Students for Ekong Sampson on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at NUJ Press Center, Information Drive, Uyo, the Coordinator of the Group, Comrade Anietie Samuel who is also the President of Eket Senatorial District Students Forum, not that the single tenure and replacement option adopted by Akwa Ibom South ( Eket) Senatorial District have deprived the Senatorial district of massive development, assuring that It is now ime for continuity and sustained development.


The Students' leader who appealed to movers and shakers of Politics in Akwa Ibom South (;Eket) Senatorial District to be united for Senator Ekong Sampson's re-election in 2027 and to promote a brighter future for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District. 


Comrade Anietie Samuel commended Senator Ekong Sampson for his huge investment in Education through the recent disbursement of 100 Million Naira Education Grant for 500 Students and 25 teachers, award of scholarship for selected students, facilitation of employment of over 50 Constituents for employment in federal MDAs, especially in tertiary institutions where some are engaged as Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers, Graduate Assistants as well as construction of quality facilities including ICT/ Computer Based Test ( CBT) Centers in some schools within the Senatorial District.


The Students' Community alao lauded Senator Ekong Sampson's initiatives in sponaoring some education -friendly bills such as a Bill for the establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi and a bill for the establishment of Federal University of Maritime Studies, Oron, among others.


Comrade Samuel also commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD for prioritising Education in the Arise Agenda of his administration, evidenced in the construction of Model Schools with provision of uniform for pupils of the model Schools across the 31 Local Government Areas, payment of bursary to students, payment of 100 Million Naira Education Grant for Physically Challenged students, sponsorship of Medical Students for overseas training, among others.


In the same vein, the Akwa Ibom South Students for Ekong Sampson thanked President Bola Tinubu for the introduction of the Nelfund and other education-friendly initiatives. He announced plans for mass participation of Akwa Ibom South Students in the ongoing Voters registration to enable them vote massively for the trio of Senator Ekong Sampson, Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 General election.


Also sworn in were: comrade Gideon Akwai - Deputy Coordinator, Comrade Christian Nathan Brown, Secretary General, Comrade Okwong James - Director Of Publicity, 

Comrade Victory Itama- Director of Welfare,

Comrade Sunday Abasido - Organising Secretary and Emmanuel Sunday, Ex- Officio.


Others elected into the Advisory Council include: Comrade Usen Johnson - Chancellor, Comrade Torobong Obot- Deputy Chancellor, Comrade Etim Etim - Secretary General and Comrade Udeme Williams, Director of Media and Publicity.
