By Aniefiok Christopher

Youth groups in Annang Land yesterday stormed Uyo Metropolis to register their unflinching support and vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.

Staging a solidarity rally from the popular Uyo Water Fountain along Nwaniba Road, trekking down to the Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation, the groups including Afe Mkparawa Annang, Isong Annang Ethnic Forum and members of Ibom Consultative Forum said they are satisfied with Pastor Umo Eno's achievements in the State.

Addressing the Special Adviser, Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation, Barr Kufre Udosen, the President Afe Mkparawa Annang, Adede Uduakobong Akpan listed rehabilitation and construction of health centers, empowerment of citizens across the the 31 LGAs and provision of compassionate homes to widows and  vulnerable members of the society as the parameters for their support to Governor.

According to him, the present administration has taken development to grassroots, with huge attention to farmers, including the setting aside of the last Fridays of every month as Farm Day for Civil Servants in the State.

The youth leader listed further the several life-touching projects spread across the state in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and rural development as a reflection of the tangible dividends of responsible leadership and financial discipline in the State.

To him, Umo Eno, through his ARISE Agenda mantra, has ushered in a new era of peace, prudence, and people-focused governance, hinting that the Governor's  emphasis on rural transformation, agricultural development, entrepreneurship promotion, and fiscal discipline has not only restored hope in government, but has expanded opportunities for the people of Akwa Ibom.

Also speaking, the President of Isong Annang Ethnic Forum, Prince Mendie Archibong used the occasion to refute claims from the opposition that the Governor is under performing that the group are pleased with the Governor's politics of inclusivity which he said, has attracted peace and tranquility to Akwa Ibom State.

Declaring the forum's interest to support the Governor to remain in office beyond 2021, Dr Mendie noted that Akwa Ibom is witnessing a refreshing season of responsible leadership and economic renewal under Pastor Umo Eno’s watch.

Rather than stay aside to criticize the Governor, the President of Isong Annang Ethnic Forum is beckoning on the citizens to join hands with the Governor to build the State to it's enviable heights.

Mr Ndifreke Elijah, President Ibom Consultative Assembly in his remarks, expressed the group's readiness to mobilize Akwa Ibom citizens to work for the actualization of the Governor's ARISE Agenda across the nooks crannies of the State, adding that Pastor Umo Eno has done his best to stabilize the political atmosphere in the State.

Responding, the Special Adviser, Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation, Barr Kufre Udosen applauded the ingenuity of the youth groups in forming the socio-political organizations to support good governance in the State.

According to the Special Adviser, the groups are among the foremost groups to have registered their unflinching support to the Governor, particularly in identifying with the ARISE Agenda programmes of Pastor Umo Eno in tourism, amongst other achievements of the present administration in the State.

Barr Udosen seized the opportunity to reassure citizens that present administration under Pastor Umo Eno will continue to prioritize citizens welfare in terms of employment and empowerment of the numerous groups in the State as he announced a token to support the transport fares of the groups.

The high point of the rally was the presentation of an enlarged artistic portrait of Pastor Umo Eno to the Special Adviser for future presentation to the Governor as a symbol of their appreciation.
