Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has praised the Member representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mark Udo Esset, for what he described as an “impactful and people-oriented representation” in the National Assembly.
The commendation came on Thursday during Esset’s Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Programme held at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo. Governor Eno, represented by his Political Adviser, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh, Ph.D, said Esset’s development-driven interventions align with the state government’s ARISE Agenda.
According to the Governor, Esset’s legislative strides—ranging from bills sponsorship to free medical outreaches, installation of solar-powered boreholes, and human capacity development—have reinforced the administration’s push for inclusive growth and grassroots empowerment.
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items received and continue supporting government programmes designed to uplift communities.
Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, who chaired the event, applauded Esset’s leadership, noting that over ₦100 million in cash had already been disbursed through his initiatives. He added that the people of Uyo Federal Constituency remain proud of his representation.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, represented by Hon. Abubakar K. Abubakar Bichi, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, also commended Esset’s dedication to constituency development and his commitment to empowering citizens.
In his remarks, Hon. Mark Udo Esset, Ph.D, expressed gratitude to supporters, announcing that more than 100 constituents would become millionaires through the empowerment scheme. He emphasized that all vehicles presented at the event were brand new, underscoring his commitment to transparency and quality empowerment.
Goodwill messages were delivered by party leaders from both the APC and PDP, youth and women groups, council chairmen led by ALGON Chairman, Hon. Uwemedimo E. Udo, members of the State House of Assembly, and traditional rulers from Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Atai, and Ibesikpo Asutan.
The event drew a large crowd of political actors, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and community stakeholders.
The highlight of the programme was the distribution of brand-new cars, minibuses, cargo and passenger tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, freezers, and cash support totalling more than ₦400 million—marking one of the largest empowerment interventions in the constituency.
