SSDC Boss Meets SGF Akume on Strengthening Strategic Ties for Regional Development

 



The Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Ms. Usoro Akpabio, has met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, in Abuja to deepen strategic engagement and foster partnerships for the accelerated development of the South-South region.

The meeting, held at the SGF’s office, focused on strengthening inter-governmental collaboration in advancing presidential intervention initiatives tailored toward the region’s socio-economic growth.




According to a statement from the SSDC, discussions touched on critical areas such as poverty eradication and reduction programmes, environmental remediation, flood and erosion control, and youth empowerment schemes linked to ecological sustainability and inclusive development.

Senator Akume commended Ms. Akpabio for her proactive leadership and early steps toward addressing the region’s developmental challenges. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s support for the Commission’s programmes, noting that they align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes regional equity and sustainable national growth.

In response, Ms. Akpabio expressed appreciation for the SGF’s assurances, emphasizing the Commission’s readiness to work closely with relevant federal and state agencies to deliver tangible results that will positively impact the lives of people across the South-South.
