  Otobong Sampson Aspirants who hope to realize their ambition either as elected officials of local government council or officials of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State have been advised to shun underhand tactics and instead focus on convincing those with the votes about the genuineness of their ambition. Transition Committee Extention: Nsit Atai Council Gets Knocks Over Poor Performance

The non performance of some Transition Committee helmsmen has been brought to the fore as the ongoing tour of Councils in the State by the House of Assembly has exposed same. The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly acting on a letter sent to it by the State Governor seeking for a Resolution to extend the tenure of Transition Committees, set the ball rolling as it demanded to accertain the level of performance of each Council to determine if they merit to be returned. Uyo women celebrate as Uwemedimo Udo distributes N5.5m grant to 55 small-scale business owners

  In a heartwarming gesture, the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Transition Committee, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, on Tuesday, distributed N5.5 million as business support grants to fifty-five women selected from the eleven wards of Uyo Local Government Area.  The recipients, including market women, were visibly elated as they received their cash transfer alerts of N100,000 each inside the Uyo Council hall, expressing their gratitude through joyful dancing and songs of praise for the Chairman. Akwa Ibom Assembly praises Dr. Uwemedimo Udo's quality projects in Uyo LGA

  The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has commended Dr. Uwemedimo Udo for the high-quality projects he has executed during his tenure as the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Transition Committee in the past six months. Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung, made the commendation on Monday when he led the lawmakers on an inspection tour of the Council to assess the number of projects and achievements recorded so far under Dr. Udo's administration. Idung, shortly after he inspected the new 18-room Technical Building for staff of the Directorate of Works, Lands, and Housing of the Council, expressed satisfaction with the project status.  He noted the serenity and neatness of the Council vicinity, stating that the Chairman had shown a commitment to improving the Council. Hard Times Await Criminal Elements In A'Ibom As Police Boss Pledges Partnership With AKHA

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Waheed Ayilara, has pledged collaboration with Lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) towards the steming of criminality in the State. AKHA Defers Giving Resolution To Extend Transition Committees..mandates Committee to verify performance of councils

  By Asuquo Edem Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today put off giving the governor a resolution to extend the stay of Transition Committees across the State. The State governor who communicated his request for the House Resolution dated 6th May 2024 drawing strength from Section 5 sub 2 of the Local Government Administration Law pleaded with the lawmakers to heed to giving the resolution to extend the tenure of Transition Councils as the Commission responsible for conducting elections require an extended time frame. The motion to receive the letter for deliberation was moved by the member representing Ikono Rt. Hon. Asuquo Nana and was seconded by the member representing Ika State Constituency, Rt. Hon.
