Over 700 Etinan Students to Receive Bursary Support from Lawmaker

More than 700 students from Etinan State Constituency are set to benefit from a bursary stipend program initiated by the Member representing the area in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. (Engr.) Uduak-Obong Ekpo-Ufot.

The bursary disbursement, scheduled to begin today, Thursday, August 7, 2025, is part of Hon. Ekpo-Ufot’s efforts to ease the financial burden on students and promote educational development within the constituency. The lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Science and Technology, described the initiative as “putting money directly in the pockets of our young people during these challenging times.”

Earlier, students from the constituency were directed to submit their details via the official constituency website, followed by verification from their respective institutions. Successful applicants are listed under the “Tertiary Institutions” section on the website: www.etinansc.com.

Beneficiaries under Batch A are required to appear in person at the Etinan State Constituency Office located within the Assembly Complex, off Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo. Verification and disbursement will take place every Thursday in August, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Applicants are expected to come with the following documents:

  1. Evidence of membership in their school’s NAELGOS chapter (such as dues receipt or a note signed by the current president)
  2. Certificate of Origin
  3. Recent course registration form
  4. School ID card
  5. National Identification Number (NIN) slip

The online application portal for Batch B bursary applicants will open in September 2025, the constituency office has confirmed.

Improved Working Conditions For Teachers In Rural Areas Underway As AKHA Advocates Provision Of Live-In Quarters

Secondary school teachers posted to rural areas in the State would have a sigh of relief as lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has advocated to the State Government for the provision of live-in quarters to reduce the burden of transportation and solve issues of accomodation.  This was sequel to a report presented to the House by the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. Kenim Onofiok during Plenary today. Hon. Onofiok informed the House that the Committee had invited stakeholders from the Ministry including Commissioner for Education, Chairmen, State Secondary Education Board, Permanent Secretaries to discuss on the matter.
