The Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon (Barr) Ime Bassey Okon, has lauded the Executive Chairmen of Itu and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Councils, Hon Ubong Nkutt and Hon Asuakak Umoh, for their remarkable performances within one year in office, describing their stewardship as a true reflection of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda in action at the grassroots.

Hon Okon, who made the commendation in a Goodwill Message to the two Council Bosses, said the visible transformations across Itu and Ibiono Ibom within just one year have shown that both leaders have not only aligned with the Governor’s development blueprint but have localized it with outstanding creativity and impact.

The federal lawmaker observed that Hon Nkutt’s administration in Itu has changed the face of the third tier of government through a blend of infrastructural renewal, security intervention, agricultural empowerment, and educational support. He particularly noted the construction of a new administrative complex, the renovation of the legislative building, and the establishment of a Forward Operating Base at Ikot Adakpan Beach to strengthen border security.

The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs, equally commended the Itu chairman’s focus on youth empowerment through scholarships and skill acquisition programmes, as well as his rural road rehabilitation efforts that have restored access across communities. He said such initiatives mirror the inclusive and community-driven governance principles espoused by Governor Umo Eno under the ARISE Agenda.

Turning to Ibiono Ibom, Hon Okon described Obong Asuakak Umoh’s performance as equally outstanding, saying his administration has demonstrated what visionary leadership at the third tier should represent. He highlighted Ibiono Ibom’s awe-inspiring achievements in infrastructure, human capacity development, agriculture, health, and education as clear evidence of a responsive and people-centric government.

From the construction of the Traditional Rulers Council Office Complex, the reconnection of over 17 villages to the national grid, provision of solar street lights, and renovation of council structures to the award of full university scholarships, youth engagement, and agricultural expansion, the federal legislator said the Ibiono Ibom story under Hon Umoh is that of steady progress and purposeful governance.

He particularly applauded the chairman’s social welfare interventions, which include cash support for widows and cooperatives, sponsorship of skills acquisition trainees at the Dakkada Training Centre, and medical support for indigent patients, describing them as the true essence of leadership with empathy.

Hon Okon said the combined performances of the two local government chairmen have further strengthened the reputation of Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency as a model of development-oriented leadership in Akwa Ibom State. He reaffirmed his readiness to continue partnering with the two council leaders to attract more federal projects to the two areas and to ensure that every community in the constituency benefits from ongoing development efforts.

While congratulating Hon Nkutt and Hon Umoh on their first anniversary in office, the law luminary urged them to sustain the momentum and continue to interpret the Governor’s ARISE Agenda in practical terms that improve lives and foster unity at the grassroots.

Barr Ime Okon specifically expressed appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for creating the enabling environment that has allowed local government administrations to thrive and deliver effectively, describing the Governor’s leadership as the catalyst that has restored purpose, discipline, and compassion to governance in Akwa Ibom State.
