SSDC Strengthens Clean Energy Drive with Visit to LPV Solar Manufacturing Plant in Lagos

 



As part of efforts to deepen collaboration with key partners in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector, the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) has paid a working visit to LPV Technologies’ state-of-the-art solar manufacturing plant in Ikotun, Lagos State.

The visit, which took place on October 20, 2025, was led by the Managing Director of SSDC, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, accompanied by members of the Commission’s Management and Board. It followed earlier high-level discussions with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) aimed at expanding clean energy access across the South-South region.





According to the Ms. Akpabio, the engagement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and supports Nigeria’s clean energy transition anchored on the nation’s first local content policy framework for renewable energy manufacturing.

The team was warmly received by the Chairman of LPV Technologies, Mr. Nzan Ogbe, and his management team, who conducted the delegation on a guided tour of the firm’s fully automated, AI-integrated solar production facility—described as a remarkable testament to Nigeria’s growing capacity in renewable energy innovation.

Key Highlights of the Visit

Strategic Partnership: LPV Technologies reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with SSDC on renewable energy deployment across the South-South, focusing on rural electrification and community solar projects.

Regional Expansion: Plans are underway to establish logistics and distribution hubs in the South-South to enhance clean energy accessibility and strengthen the regional renewable energy value chain.

Youth Empowerment: Both organizations will jointly launch training and skills development programmes in solar technology to empower young people and promote local capacity building.

Local Content Drive: LPV’s strong commitment to local sourcing and innovation aligns with the Federal Government’s economic diversification agenda and efforts to strengthen the Naira through value-added production.

The SSDC described the visit as “highly productive,” reaffirming its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition through sustainable partnerships, capacity development, and regional economic growth
