2019 Polls: Controversy Surrounds Redeployment Of INEC REC Igini

As the intricacies towards the 2019 elections continue to gather momentum, political camps and Parties in Akwa Ibom State have been taken aback over the news of the redeployment of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr. Mike Igini.

Recent reports making the rounds has it that Mike Igini, has been redeployed to Bayelsa State and has been subsequently sworn in as the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the State where he will be exercising supervisory control over personnel, resources as well as the legal and administrative processes in the state.
However Mr. Igini was sighted today at Ibom Hall for the Peace Accord organised by INEC for Candidates of political Parties

However the news has only but brought political fireworks from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and the All Progressives Congress(APC) as arguments have gone for and against the alleged redeployment of the State INEC REC.

AKHA Defers Giving Resolution To Extend Transition Committees..mandates Committee to verify performance of councils

By Asuquo Edem Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today put off giving the governor a resolution to extend the stay of Transition Committees across the State. The State governor who communicated his request for the House Resolution dated 6th May 2024 drawing strength from Section 5 sub 2 of the Local Government Administration Law pleaded with the lawmakers to heed to giving the resolution to extend the tenure of Transition Councils as the Commission responsible for conducting elections require an extended time frame. Akwa Ibom State has been thrown into deep mourning and grief as the wife of the State governor has passed away.
