Economic Vibrancy, Development: Attah Thumbs Up Udom, Seeks Successful Second Term





A former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah has scored Governor Udom Emmanuel high for instituting sound economic blue print that would fast track the development of Akwa Ibom state.

Obong Attah gave the commendation during a consultation for second term at his Shelter Afrique residence, Uyo.

He lauded Governor Emmanuel for his sense of enterprise in the commencement of Ibom Airlines flight operations.the Ibom deep seaport, industrial city among others and expressed delight at the synergy in vision.

The former Governor expressed appreciation for the honor done him and prayed God to actualize the Divine mandate.

Addressing the Elder statesman, Governor Udom Emmanuel who described Obong Attah as the father of modern Akwa Ibom acknowledged the contribution of the Elder statesman to the development of Akwa Ibom through the economic foundation he laid and the Zoning arrangement as well as the enthronement of good governance and the landmark achievement that has launched Akwa Ibom into global reckoning especially the resource control.

Governor Emmanuel who was accompanied by his deputy mr Moses Ekpo, the speaker Barrister Onofiok Luke ,SSG Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem DG Divine mandate Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga,Senator Effiong Bob , Senator Anietie Okon, senator IbokEssien expressed appreciation to the former Governor for championing the course of the Niger Delta, Zoning arrangement and the spread of development across the state.

He disclosed that Ibom Airlines would begin flight operations and it would be inaugurated tomorrow by noon.

Governor Emmanuel said that three Aircrafts had been acquired and listed the routes to include Abuja, Lagos and Uyo.

He also lauded the investment in the palm oil and kernel plant which the former governor laid the foundation and announced that the mill in Ukanafun has been inaugurated and operations have begun. These he said would improve IGR and create employment.

The DG divine mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga said that the reelection of governor Udom Emmanuel has received wider acceptance across the State and said the visit was to come and formally consult the Former Governor on the second term bid.

Breaking: A’Ibom Governor Removes Two Aides Amid Restructuring, Alleged PDP Links

  Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has relieved two aides of their duties with immediate effect, the state government announced on Monday. AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
