Nigeria's Vice President Yemi Osinbajo earlier today arrived the Victor Attah International Airport and was received by the Secretary to State Government Mr. Emmanuel Ekuwem
This to many was a twist following a Press Release by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr. Charles Udoh alleging that the State government was not in the know of the visit of the Vice President.
The release read in parts, "the attention of the Akwa Ibom State Government has been drawn to news reports about a proposed visit of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo to Akwa Ibom State.
The State Government wishes to place on record the fact that it has not been notified about proposed visit as Protocol demands and is therefore unaware of the purpose and duration of the visit. This development is an obvious aberration with a political undertone aimed embarrassing the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State"
The government described as unfortunate that "political gamesmanship has been taken beyond the realms of normalcy as it relates issues of Protocol.
"The Government of Akwa Ibom State remains committed to pursuing its avowed policy of political inclusion and respect for constituted authority".
At the airport to also receive the Vice President were some leaders of the All Progressives Congress.

It would be recalled that while adressing members of the press yesterday, the Presidential Liaison Officer, National Assembly Matter-Senate, Senator Ita Solomon Enang said the visit of the vice president would bother on numerous activities and interactions with family, community leaders and the business communities.
Ita Enang stated that Yemi Osinbajo will address a rally in Nsit Attai local government area, together with the APC governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere.
He added that the vice president will be at Akpan Andem Market in Uyo as well as visit Ikot Ekpene market to interact with citizens.
"He will have meetings with some APC chieftains, before proceeding to address some professionals and chief executives of businesses from Akwa Ibom and other businessmen resident in the state. He will also visit Christian communities and other religious organizations in the state", he said.
