2019 Polls: Fairly Fair, Few Cases Of Voilence As Candidates, Voters Await Outcome(See Pics Too)



The Presidential and National Assembly elections finally held today after it was shifted for one week by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) where issues with logistics were cited as reasons.
As observed by our Reporter, voter turnout was impressive compared to previous elections while material also arrived early. Casting of ballots was also concluded in majority of the Units visited. However some Units were yet to receive materials as at time of visit while few cases of violence were also reported. Below are tit bits of happenings around some polling Units across Akwa Ibom State.

UYO
Unit 13, Ward 7, Saint Philip's Primary School, Use Offot, Uyo LGA. Accreditation commenced quite early and Massive turnout of voters was observed.
ITU
At Unit 1, ward 8 in Itu LGA. IKOT EKANG. Idongesit Idong Ituen was alleged to have arrived the Unit with armed men, hijacked the materials and abducted the corpers and INEC staff. 

 ETINAN
Accreditation started at about 08:17am and voting also commenced in Polling unit 009 Etinan Urban ward 1. Situation is very peaceful and electorates are conducting themselves in an orderly manner.
 Voting has commenced in Unit 12, Urban Ward 1, Etinan. The unit has 1104 registered voters.
At 001 Afaha Iman, Urban 5, Etinan LGA, situation is very Peaceful.
Materials arrived Ikot Nkang-Asuna Etinan LGA by 10.10am.

Massive turnout of voters at unit 2, Ikot Akpabio, Northern Iman Ward 2 in Etinan LGA with registered voters of 1156. Election materials also available. Accreditation was however yet to commence at time of visit reason being that the pin required to unlock the card reader is yet to be given. The official in charge of the pin was still being awaited to arrive.
 
NSIT IBOM
Materials arrived Mbiaso ward 4 unit 3 in Nsit Ibom local government area at about 9am and everywhere was calm as security men were seen on ground.

 NSIT UBIUM
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibok state House of Assembly, and candidate for Etinan Federal House, Rt. Hon. Barr Onofiok Luke, and wife, Dr Uduak Luke, casted their ballots at Unit 005, Itreto ward, Nsit Ubium LGA, Akwa Ibom


NSIT ATAI
Unit7, ward 9, Ibakang Nsit, Nsit Atai LGA. Election process going on smoothly.


 IBIONO IBOM
Election materials were confirmed by Agents and accreditation of eligible voters at Ikot Ekop, Ward 5 unit 3, Ibiono Ibom LGA. Presiding Officer is Akintola
Prospective voters arrived quite early at Primary School, Ikot Antia Ididep.
The Commissioner for Environment & Solid Minerals, Dr. Iniobong Essien was also seen exercising his civic rights.
Casting of ballots at polling unit in Ididep Usuk Ibiono Ibom LGA concluded without hitches. the Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District was on ground and also exercised his duties.

ORUK ANAM
All Progressives Congress Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr Amadu Atai arrived his unit at St Paul's primary School Ekparakwa, Ward 7 at about with Troops of Armed police officers.

 IKONO
Imminent violence and disruption of voting in Ikono LGA was observed as military personnel took over units 5, 7 and 3 in ward 3. Party agents fingered former House of Assembly member, Hon. Victor Udofia.
At Uruk Obong 1 village council hall,Ekpenyong ward 11,Essien Udim Local Government, casting of ballots was concluded successfully at at 10.45am

Akwa Ibom Thrown Into Mourning As Gov Umo Eno Loses Wife To Death

  Akwa Ibom State has been thrown into deep mourning and grief as the wife of the State governor has passed away.
