Peace Accord: PDP, APC In War Of Words

As the battle towards who occupies the Hilltop Mansion after the 2019 elections rages, banters and trading of words has continued to fill the polity with the two most prominent Parties; the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress pulling throats.

The Peace Accord organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC again presented a battle field for the two Parties.

In a release issued and signed by the State Chairman of the APC, Mr. Ini Okopido, alleged that the candidate of their Party, Obong Nsima Ekere was barred from participating in the Peace Accord. He alleged that Obong Ekere on arriving at the venue was prevented from entering by protocol and security of the State Governor.

He stated that "Obong Ekere’s entreaties to be let in to participate in the ceremony, including his explanations that he first had to attend a previously scheduled prayer summit for peaceful elections at the Methodist Church, Itiam Etoi, Uyo, were turned down by the government officials. Our candidate had to turn back".

He stated that the APC will continue to "reject, oppose and resist every attempt to mortgage the INEC’s independence and impartiality such as was put on display today".

However in a stout defense ans response to the release of the APC Chairman, the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Comrade Ini Ememobong in a Press Release titled "Nsima Ekere’s Habitual Display of Rascality and the ill-fated Demand for the Removal of REC Igini", noted  that the candidate of the APC, Nsima Ekere exhibited his "consistent, habitual and unrepentant show of rascality by coming hours after the event had started and sought to stroll across the main aisle of the venue. Of course by all protocol standards, he was advised to enter from the front door, but use the middle aisle to his seat which was at the other end of the hall. He resisted and insisted on swaggering pass the front. Protocol officers  of INEC offered to take him to his seat but he left boasting that Igini must be removed".

He asserted that the Chairman of the APC, Ini Okopido had long arrived and even answered that Nsima was on his way when asked by the INEC REC about the whereabouts of his candidate.

Ememobong noted that the APC hatched the drama of coming late after they had failed to remove the REC after having earlier celebrated the redeployment of the REC stating that "Like all other devilish plans, this has failed".

He stated emphatically that Raphael Edem only did his duty of only introducing the Governor and other dignitaries and had stated clearly that he was not the MC noting that the official MC was Sammy Williams of Planet FM.
While calling on INEC to direct Nsima Ekere to immediately append his signature and subscribe to the Peace Accord strongly condemned the habitual show of madness by Nsima Ekere, "which if taken as a sample of our state’s behaviour can create a bad stereotype, that our people are habitual late comers and ill mannered".

The PDP mouth piece noted that any attempt to use the unfortunate display of infantile disposition by Nsima Ekere, APC and Co to further their demand for the redeployment of Igini, will surely fail, as others have.
