What a world of man inhumanity to man. This 40 year old father of one from Ukanafun Ikot Ekpat, Ukanafun Local Government Area (name withheld) was last Friday falsely accused of stealing 75 litres of palm oil and then stripped naked and then paraded around the village.
His accuser, one Ifiok Silas had alleged that victim stole the oil last Wednesday night. After forcefully taken the victim who deals on retail petroleum products as a means of livelihood to swear before a native doctor (ukang) in Afaha Obong community, Abak Local Government Area and as expected, the native doctor pronounced him guilty.
The victim was then brought back to the village and without the knowledge of the village head or any village council member, forcefully stripped naked and given the beating of his life till he nearly passed out before he was left probably for him to die.
The heartless youths had dared anyone that would come to the rescue of the victim which prevented good Nigerians from intervening.
The village head, Chief Okon Udo Ebeka who totally condemned the action of the youths who carried out the distardly act when he was not around as was said to have attended traditional rulers council meeting, called on the law enforcement agents to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justce.
He noted such abomination where youths take laws into their hands and parade the young man naked is unacceptable, adding that the youths did it out of hatred as according to him, the victim has never had any criminal record.
Meanwhile, the victim has appealed to good Nigerians, human rights activists and law enforcement agents to help him get justice.
