Restoration Of Peace: Lawmaker Hails Udom, Assures of resounding victory for PDP

The member representing Ukanafun State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Akpan has commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for restoring peace to the once deserted Ukanafun which some months ago became a war zone, owing to the activities of some militants.

Speaking with this reporter at Ikot Akpan Nkuk, during the PDP campaign rally, the lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Housing said he was elated that the once troubled local government area was currently enjoying peace and tranquility courtesy of Governor Udom Emmanuel. Describing Ukanafun as a PDP enclave, the legislator expressed optimism that the party would win convincingly in the local government area during the February 16 and March 2 general elections.

Asked why he didn't join the bandwagon of defectors having failed to clinch the National Assembly ticket for Ukanafun/Original-Anam Federal Constituency, the Assembly member explained that as a loyal party member who rode into public office under the PDP ticket, it didn't make sense to him to consider dumping a party that has become like a religion in the state. He maintained that he doesn't believe in cross carpeting, and at such he would continually work for the success of the PDP.
On the forthcoming general election, Hon. Akpan said Governor Udom Emmanuel remains the only Governorship candidate that the people of Ukanafun knows and are ready to return him to office for a second term on March 2, 2019.
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to the Governor for facilitating the completion and operation of the Oil Palm Mill commissioned today at Ikot Akpan Nkuk and also hailed him for siting other life touching projects in the area.
